Hello,
Location information of a mobile node/user can be of significant use
to a host of applications and services. Current discussions on this
list have raised some issues related to security and anonymity
etc. These are valid arguments and should be addressed as part of the
work in this BOF/WG (if it happens).
Since location information is so closely tied to the mobility aspect
of a Mobile node/user, would you think that this could be pursued by
the Mobile IP WG in the IETF. Since the mobility agent in the home
network of a mobile node is aware (well kind of) of the current
location (not necessarily geographic) of a MN, it is possible it can
be expanded to handle the kind of information that would help upper
layer protocols and applications.
